David served in the RAF Police from 1955 to 1959 and has the dubious distinction of being one of the very few dog handlers to be bitten by his own dog on his pass-out parade! He joined the RAF Police Association in 1996 and immediately volunteered to become the Area Representative for Hampshire & Dorset. As a result of his organising ability and drive the Hants & Dorset Branch was formed in May 1997 with him becoming its first Branch Secretary.

In late 1997 the Association found itself without a Secretary and David immediately stepped in to fill the void. He was formally elected as Association Secretary in 1998.

David was the first recipient of the Alan Rusling Memorial Award in 1998 recognising his outstanding contribution and service to the Association as a whole and to the Hants & Dorset Branch.

Since 1998 David has continued to hold 'National' Office and is currently the Membership Secretary, he is the current President of the Hants, Dorset & Isle of Wight Branch. He was invited to become a Life Vice-President of the Association in 2008.
